In Class Panda, we have been celebrating the Harvest with lots of thinking about being thankful. We have talked about the love in our families, the food we eat and our homes. We have said thank you to the grown-ups who help us and sent our love to our families. We also have thought carefully about the groups we belong to – our family, our school and our community. We welcomed a new member of our community when a new baby brother was born. We drew what we would like to give a new addition to a family. We have also looked at the colours of autumn by drawing a pumpkin and bringing in leaves for a display. We have brought in dried and tinned food for the collection to make food parcels for those who have less than we have. It was great fun learning a Scarecrow Song as well as our favourite hymn called The Harvest Samba. The Year Ones made scarecrows and beautiful leaf prints. We have also learned about how people around the world celebrate the harvest and say thank you. In Russia people celebrate the Apple Harvest and there is also the Jewish Festival of Sukkot. Our Year Ones decorated a Sukkah which is the special tent where Jewish families celebrate their Harvest. In has been a very busy few weeks and we have kept safe and happy being super learners and super friends.
